Retour sur le projet CHAPTER : "Challenging Propaganda Through Remembrance" - Service Civil International Branche Française

Bien des choses se sont passées depuis la dernière fois qu’on vous a parlé du projet CHAPTER… Ce projet sur la thématique de l’antifascime et de la mémoire, commencé en 2019 puis réalisé en 2021, a consisté en tout en 8 événements :

Événement 1 – Réunion de préparation
👥 L’événement a réuni 15 participants d’organisations partenaires, dont 6 participants de Rome (Italie), 1 de Turin (Italie), 1 d’Athènes (Grèce), 1 de Vienne (Autriche), 1 de Barcelone (Espagne), 1 de Sofia (Bulgarie), 1 de Poznań (Pologne), 1 de Budapest (Hongrie), 1 de Lille (France), 1 de Bonn (Allemagne).
📅 L’événement a eu lieu à Rome (Italie), du 10/12/2019 au 16/12/2019.
🎯 L’objectif de l’événement était de convenir de la gestion, de mettre en place les activités, de discuter de la visibilité et de la diffusion.

Event 1- Preparatory Meeting
👥 The event involved 15 participants from partner organizations, including 6 participants from Rome (Italy), 1 from Turin (Italy), 1 from Athens (Greece), 1 from Wien (Austria), 1 from Barcelona (Spain), 1 from Sofia (Bulgaria), 1 from Poznań (Poland), 1 from Budapest (Hungary), 1 from Lille (France), 1 from Bonn (Germany).
📅 The event took place in Rome (Italy), from 10/12/2019 to 16/12/2019.
🎯 The aim of the event was to agree on the management, set up the activities, discuss the visibility and dissemination.

Événement 2 – Formation pour les messagers
👥 L’événement a réuni 25 citoyens, dont 8 participants de Turin (Italie), 4 participants de Rome (Italie), 2 participants de Berlin (Allemagne), 2 participants d’Athènes (Grèce), 2 participants de Lille (France), 1 participant de Sofia (Bulgarie), 2 participants de Poznań (Pologne), 1 participant de Barcelone (Espagne), 2 participants de Budapest (Hongrie), 1 participant de Vienne (Autriche).
📅 L’événement s’est déroulé en ligne du 03/04/2021 au 12/04/2021.
🎯 L’objectif de l’événement était de former un groupe de messagers expérimentés (messagers de la mémoire) qui pourraient également superviser les Semaines du Souvenir (« Remembrance Weeks ») organisées dans différents pays. Les participants ont été formés sur le sujet de la propagande d’avant et pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Ils ont discuté des aspects TIC du projet et défini les thèmes des recherches qu’ils allaient commencer immédiatement après la fin de l’événement.

Event 2 – Training for Multipliers
👥 The event involved 25 citizens, including 8 participants from Turin (Italy), 4 participants from Rome (Italy), 2 participants from Berlin (Germany), 2 participants from Athens (Greece), 2 participants from Lille (France), 1 participant from Sofia (Bulgaria), 2 participants from Poznań (Poland), 1 participant from Barcelona (Spain), 2 participants from Budapest (Hungary), 1 participant from Wien (Austria).
📅 The event took place online from 03/04/2021 to 12/04/2021.
🎯 The aim of the event was to train a group of experienced multipliers (Remembrance Messengers) who could also supervise the Remembrance Weeks organized in different countries. Participants have been trained on propaganda before and during the World War II. They discussed the ICT aspects of the project and defined the topics of the researches they were going to start immediately after the end of the event.

Événement 3 – Semaine du Souvenir en Italie
👥 L’événement a impliqué 25 citoyens, dont 1 participant de Poznań (Pologne), 1 de Barcelone (Espagne), 1 de Madrid (Espagne), 3 de Turin (Italie), 1 de Vienne (Autriche), 1 de Cologne (Allemagne ), 1 de Sofia (Bulgarie), 1 de Paris (France), 1 de Lisbonne (Portugal), 1 d’Athènes (Grèce), et 13 de Rome (Italie).
📅 L’événement a eu lieu à Rome, en Italie, du 14/06/2021 au 23/06/2021.
🎯 L’objectif de l’événement était d’approfondir la recherche sur la propagande sous les régimes totalitaires et dans les médias actuels, en analysant spécifiquement les thèmes de la participation des jeunes aux mouvements pro- et anti-régimes et de la liberté d’expression.

Event 3 – Remembrance Week in Italy
👥 The event involved 25 citizens, including 1 participant from Poznań (Poland), 1 from Barcelona (Spain), 1 from Madrid (Spain), 3 from Turin (Italy), 1 from Wien (Austria), 1 from Cologne (Germany), 1 from Sofia (Bulgaria), 1 from Paris (France), 1 from Lisbon (Portugal), 1 from Athens (Greece), and 13 from Rome (Italy).
📅 The event took place in Rome, Italy, from 14/06/2021 to 23/06/2021.
🎯 The aim of the event was to deepen the research about propaganda during totalitarian regimes and in current media, analyzing specifically the topics of youth participation in regimes and anti-regimes movements and freedom of speech.

Événement 4 – Semaine du Souvenir en Pologne
👥 L’événement a réuni 26 citoyens, dont 1 participant de Rome (Italie), 17 participants de Poznań (Pologne), 1 participant de Budapest (Hongrie), 1 participant de Genève (Suisse), 2 participants de Barcelone (Espagne), 1 participant de Vienne (Autriche), 1 participant de Paris (France), 1 participant de Copenhague (Danemark), 1 participant du Kosovo.
📅 L’événement a eu lieu à Poznań, en Pologne, du 25/06/2021 au 04/07/2021.
🎯 L’objectif de l’événement était de se concentrer sur les thèmes des crimes de haine, à travers la coopération avec le Musée du Martyre Wielkopolska à Poznań, et l’histoire. En ont résulté trois infographies : des manifestes imprimés sur des sujets qui, selon les participants, nécessitent l’attention des gens, y compris des réflexions sur l’impact des mots, la diversité et les valeurs nécessaires à l’humanité.

Event 4 – Remembrance Week in Poland
👥 The event involved 26 citizens, including 1 participant from Rome (Italy), 17 participants from Poznań (Poland), 1 participant from Budapest (Hungary), 1 participant from Geneva (Switzerland), 2 participants from Barcelona (Spain), 1 participant from Wien (Austria), 1 participant from Paris (France), 1 participant from Copenhagen (Denmark), 1 participant from Kosovo.
📅 The event took place in Poznań, Poland, from 25/06/2021 to 04/07/2021.
🎯 The aim of the event was to focus on the topics of hate crimes, through the cooperation with Martyrdom Museum Wielkopolska, Poznan, and history with the result of three infographics. The infographics consist of printed manifestos about topics that, according to the participants, need peoples’ attention including reflections on the impact of words, diversity and the values needed for humanity.

Événement 5 – Semaine du Souvenir en Autriche
👥 L’événement a réuni 25 citoyens, dont 3 participants de Barcelone (Espagne), 9 participants de Rome (Italie), 5 participants de Vienne (Autriche), 1 participant de Bratislava (Slovaquie), 1 participant de Bruxelles (Belgique), 1 participant de Paris (France), 3 participants de Berlin (Allemagne), 1 participant de Zagreb (Croatie), 1 participant apatride demandeur d’asile en Autriche.
📅 L’événement a eu lieu en Autriche, du 14/06/2021 au 23/06/2021.
🎯 L’objectif était de se concentrer sur les thèmes du nationalisme et de la propagande et, à partir de ces thèmes, de développer des infographies à diffuser via les réseaux sociaux. Le résultat de l’événement a été deux infographies – l’une sur la façon dont les mouvements d’extrême-droite communiquent tandis que l’autre traite de la persécution nazie des personnes homosexuelles pendant l’holocauste.

Event 5 – Remembrance Week in Austria
👥 The event involved 25 citizens, including 3 participants from Barcelona (Spain), 9 participants from Rome (Italy), 5 participants from Wien (Austria), 1 participant from Bratislava (Slovakia), 1 participant from Bruxelles (Belgium), 1 participant from Paris (France), 3 participant from Berlin (Germany), 1 participant from Zagreb (Croatia), 1 stateless participant asylum seeker in Austria.
📅 The event took place in Austria, from 14/06/2021 to 23/06/2021.
🎯 The aim of the event was to focus on the topics of nationalism and propaganda and from these topics developing infographics to be distributed through social media channels. The result of the event was two infographics – one providing information on how far-right movements communicate while the other deals with the Nazi persecution of homosexual people during the holocaust.

Événement 6 – Semaine du Souvenir en Grèce

14 participants d’Athènes (Grèce), 1 participant de Sofia (Bulgarie), 1 participant d’Amsterdam (Pays-Bas), 1 participant de Poznań (Pologne), 1 participant de Paris (France), 1 participant de Madrid (Espagne) et 1 participant de Berlin (Allemagne).
📅 L’événement a eu lieu en Grèce, du 29/08/2021 au 07/09/2021.
🎯 L’objectif de l’événement était d’approfondir l’étude de la propagande du régime Metaxas et la période de l’occupation nazie-fasciste du pays. De plus, le rôle de la société civile dans l’opposition aux régimes a été analysé. Les participants ont développé trois infographies contenant des informations sur des sujets liés à la propagande et à l’anti-facisme.

Event 6 – Remembrance Week in Greece

14 participants from Athens (Greece), 1 participant from Sofia (Bulgaria), 1 participant from Amsterdam (The Netherlands), 1 participant from Poznań (Poland), 1 participant from Paris (France), 1 participant from Madrid (Spain) and 1 participant from Berlin (Germany).
📅 The event took place in Greece, from 29/08/2021 to 07/09/2021.
🎯 The aim of the event was to deepen the Metaxas regime propaganda and the period of the nazi-fascist occupation of the country. Moreover, the role of the civil society in opposing the regimes has been analysed. Participants developed three infographics with information on topics related to propaganda and anti-facism.

Événement 7 – Semaine du Souvenir en Catalogne
👥 L’événement a réuni 25 citoyens, dont 3 participants de Rome (Italie), 2 participants de Poznań (Pologne), 1 participant de Bruxelles (Belgique), 1 participant d’Athènes (Grèce), 1 participant d’Istanbul (Turquie), 1 participant de Budapest (Hongrie), 1 participant de Berlin (Allemagne), 1 participant de Bucarest (Roumanie), 1 participant d’Amsterdam (Pays-Bas), 13 participant de Barcelone (Espagne).
📅 L’événement a eu lieu en Catalogne, du 23/09/2021 au 03/10/2021
🎯 L’objectif de l’événement était de découvrir les anciens problèmes de propagande et de fascisme du pays. La recherche a abouti à trois infographies sur les questions de populisme, de genre et d’exil ainsi qu’un rappel reliant le passé au présent en incitant à la pensée critique pour éviter d’être victime de propagande.

Event 7 – Remembrance Week in Catalonia
👥 The event involved 25 citizens, including 3 participants from Rome (Italy), 2 participants from Poznań (Poland), 1 participant from Bruxelles (Belgium), 1 participant from Athens (Greece), 1 participant from Istanbul (Turkey), 1 participant from Budapest (Hungary), 1 participant from Berlin (Germany), 1 participant from Bucarest (Romania), 1 participant from Amsterdam (Netherlands), 13 participant from Barcelona (Spain).
📅 The event took place in Catalonia, from 23/09/2021 to 03/10/2021
🎯 The aim of the event was to discover the country’s past issues of propaganda and facism. The research resulted in three infographics regarding the issues of populism, gender and exile as well as a reminder linking the past to the present by urging critical thinking to prevent becoming victims of propaganda.

Événement 8 – Événement de clôture
👥 127 citoyens ont participé physiquement à l’événement, dont 102 participants d’Italie, 6 participants d’Espagne, 1 participant d’Autriche, 4 participants de Bulgarie, 1 participant du Danemark, 2 participants de Croatie, 3 participants d’Allemagne,1 participant de France, 1 participant d’Irlande, 1 participant du Portugal, 1 participant de Pologne, 2 participants de Grèce, 1 participant du Kurdistan, 1 participant de Chypre.
📅 L’événement a eu lieu à Rome, du 5/11/2021 au 8/11/2021
🎯 L’objectif de l’événement était de conclure le projet « CHAPTER: Challenging Propaganda through Remembrance » en invitant des conférenciers éminents de toute l’Europe à discuter des situations actuelles en termes de propagande par les mouvements d’extrême droite et de contre-propagande dans leurs pays respectifs. L’évènement a réuni des universitaires, des média-activistes, des journalistes, des citoyens comme des institutions. Au cours de l’événement, les résultats du projet ont été présentés à un public plus large également grâce à la diffusion en direct, permettant d’atteindre un public transnational.

Event 8 – Final Event

📅 The event took place in Rome, from 5/11/2021 to 8/11/2021
🎯 The aim of the event was to wrap-up the project of CHAPTER: Challenging Propaganda through Remembrance by inviting prominent speakers from all over Europe to discuss the current situations in terms of propaganda by far right movements and counter-propaganda in their respective countries. It gathered academics, media-activists, journalists, people and institutions. During the event, project outcomes have been presented to a broader public also thanks to the live-streaming, allowing to reach a transnational audience.

Il a été co-financé par le programme « Europe for Citizens » de l’Union Européenne.
